School Counselor STEM Professional Development Day

Date: Friday, December 9th, 2022

Location: Florida Polytechnic University, 4700 Research Way, Lakeland, FL 33805

Time: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., optional tours will be provided before and after the formal event.

 

Through the School Counselor STEM Professional Development Day, Florida Polytechnic University strives to provide relevance for our every-changing, technological society. This event will provide School Counselors opportunities to engage in learning and networking opportunities for increased aware in STEM and a broader base for support for new colleagues across the state and country.

Topics covered during the event center around student development and education. Counselors will experience an exploration of STEM careers and knowledge to guide and mentor students while building their confidence to guide STEM-minded students. Additionally, counselors will hear perspectives on learning and development from university STEM faculty.

School Counselors who register by November 1st will have $200 registration fee waived and will be provided one night hotel accommodation. Additional event information and logistics will be sent to registrants. A waiting list will be available once the event is at capacity.

Few careers are as fulfilling as that of an educator or school counselor. Individuals in those roles are tasked with helping and guiding a students’ educational and vocational direction while maintaining working knowledge of many career paths and opportunities.

STEM careers impact technology, medicine, sustainability, social welfare, and much more. Through this professional development opportunity, counselors will be prepared to speak openly and comfortably with students interested in entering a STEM discipline.
